Known for her love and appreciation of her surroundings, textile artist, mixed media artist, author and photographer, Kim Thittichai, takes time out from her studio to capture the incredible sunsets, sunrises and wild seas that are visible and ever changing from her home on the Loop Head Peninsula. The fabulous, rich, colours she manages to achieve make for beautifully striking pieces of original work. This part of Loop Head is known by astrologers for its dark skies and they do certainly feel like they are going on for miles.

‘It’s Always the Night’ encapsulates those dark skies that although pitch black, can be watched for hours.

Using recycled papers, acrylic paint and fusible web and protected by several layers of acrylic wax, Thittichai manages to achieve the colours, forms and shapes that bring her life to work. Her process is a culmination of everything she has taught and developed over the past 30 years teaching from the UK to Australia and New Zealand.
