Glorious local depiction – Kilbaha, Co. Clare. A nod to the the area’s ‘Land Agent’ past, of the 1800’s, this stone turret, built dauntingly close to the cliff edge, has always been known locally as ‘The Reading Room’. At the time, this extraordinary reading room was only a short walk from what was, the land agents house. The ladies of the house would send the menfolk there after tea, where it was said that they ‘smoked and chatted’ more than they read! What remained of the ‘big house’ was burned down in the 1920’s, however, the turret remains and is one of the first things you see as you round the bend into the village.
This is a beautifully handled, original work, in oils by the supremely collectable Maahs. A magnificently collectable artist, whose name has been pinpointed as ‘one to watch’ on many an occasion and whose star continues to rise.
Kaye has won awards and bursaries and exhibited both nationally and internationally. She continues to be chosen to partake in the RHA’s annual exhibition, was recently selected to show at the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition in London and now has work hanging in private collections around the world.
