With a background in both graphic design and in finance, coupled with an innate creative flair and a lifelong love of art, Carmel Madigan really had the perfect foundations for a successful career as an artist. Since embarking on her artistic journey, twenty years ago, Carmel Madigan has made an indelible mark on the artistic landscape in Ireland. Having participated in many Arts Shows, Festivals, shared and solo exhibitions, all across Ireland – and indeed from as far away as Barcelona to New York, Carmel has developed a strong and loyal following and a client list that spans from local domestic buyers, to corporate collections, Government collections and includes a widespread international customer base – all adding to the provenance and collectable nature of her work.
An expert in marine biology and in all things bio-diversity (derived from having grown up with the Atlantic Ocean as her childhood playground) Carmel incorporates her environment into her work and each piece is directly inspired by her love of nature. She is the author of two books (Wildflowers of Loop Head and Seasons & Species of a Rocky Shore) which are packed full of information and runs a Summer Hedge School, teaching many varied courses.
Now, in 2020, Carmel has worked and developed her practice for twenty years. Her plans, going forward are big, and she has spent time reflecting on her twenty years to date. “One must learn from the past and the present to plan for the future’ she states”.
Quote .. “Ms Madigan combines the purity of symbolism, the vivacity of Expressionism and her own aesthetic ingenuity resulting in delectable tapestries that dazzle the eye and leave the spirit rejuvenated”...Ms Ruthie Tucker, Curator Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, New York, editor Art Acquisitor Magazine New York (published Fall 2010)
