Deirdre McKenna has worked as a professional artist since graduating from the Crawford College of Art and Design. She travels regularly to Cork Printmakers, where she develops and prints her etchings using copper plates. She has been awarded many bursaries and residencies including an international Celtic Neighbours residency at MOMA Machynlleth, Wales. Her work has been selected for important printmaking exhibitions such as: Print Studio at the Crawford Gallery, Cork alongside Rembrant in Print Exhibition providing supporting material showing contemporary artists printmaking practice in the context of the work of the 17th Century Master and The New State; Contemporary Etching in Ireland – Curated by Dr. Angela Griffith, Trinity College Dublin & Anne Hodge, National Gallery of Ireland. In 2021 McKenna was commissioned to do a piece by the OPW for their Leinster House collection and has work in many public and private collections, including North Beaches Library Collection, Sydney, Australia.
