Aideen Monaghan, an artist from the West of Ireland, paints beautiful but simple snapshots in time – thus providing the kind of artwork that is not only incredibly appealing to all, but eventually becomes somewhat of archival importance – what people did, what people wore and how people interacted etc.

This particular moment is both happy and poignant. Playing in the garden; such a normal and everyday sweet wonder – and yet the long passage of time during lockdown, representative of missing our families and friends; something that even our young are looking forward to seeing the end of.
‘Passing the Time’ highlights the beauty and preciousness of this little girl, who is quite certainly enjoying her own company, but whilst also longing for those days when we can all be together again.
