Artist, educator, author and marine biologist, Carmel T Madigan, grew up near the Bridges of Ross here on the Loop Head Peninsula. This piece is a real ode to her love for the many extraordinary rock pools of Ross.

Carmel Madigan’s unrivalled knowledge of the seashore feeds her rock pool paintings – and she includes all sorts of materials to bring the textures and depth that she wants to achieve. Somehow, she manages to bring in a sense of the slippery surface, to the anemones, the algae, the sand and sea stones, and the yellow lichen. This is a stand out piece from this celebrated artist and genuinely is so funky and modern it feels amazing on any wall space; perhaps particularly in a large contemporary home or even a large public space.
